Welp, my contract here at Turn 10 has come to an end this week. Its been a great experience! I was not only about to work on an awesome game, but a launch title for a new generation of Xbox. An opportunity like that doesn't come along very often for sure! Met some awesome people. And who knows, maybe I'll be back again in the future.
So you're probably thinking what I'm going to do next. Well, I've lined up another contract job at Glu Mobile. I will be starting that in the new year. Super excited to be changing gears and working on something new.
Closing one door and opening another! Looking forward to 2014!

Fun fact about Forza 5: If you happen to actually stop and look at the crowd, you can see me hanging out. The image above is from an online review of the game (http://www.giantbomb.com/reviews/forza-motorsport-5-review/1900-618/). Most people won't see people because they're driving too fast. But its awesome for me to know its there.

Tonight is the big night!! The Xbox One is launching at midnight tonight, and Forza 5 is coming with it! It's exciting to be at the studio while its happening. For both Aliens and Bioshock, I had already left by the time they launched. Its a great feeling to be surrounded by all the excitement.
And thanks to Turn 10 for the copy of the game!
I hope everyone gets a chance to play and enjoys it! A lot of people put a lot of hard work into it.
(^^DJ at the Launch Party. Loved the art on the front)

In case you've been wondering what I've been up to, just watch this. Everyone has been putting in a lot of hard work and this trailer definitely shows it off. What did I work on, you ask? Well, that would be driver animations and the helicopter. At least for this video.

Here are my "Best of Daily Sketch" for October! Some of my personal favorites. I had some fun this month doing some Halloween themed drawings. Make sure to follow me on Twitter or Instagram to see more: @LydiaHall
So I decided to do something new with my free time. I find that at the end of the day, I still have a lot of creative energy, but I don't necessarily want to be on the computer after an 8+ hour day of work. So, I decided to open an etsy shop and sell some stuff that I make. You can check it out here: zebranaut.etsy.com
I just have a few small things to start out. But I want to make some prints, greeting cards, and/or stickers that feature my drawings and sketches. I am currently considering getting a Christmas card sketched up and printed. Also wanting to learn to sew. I've got a top secret, awesome idea for something I want to make. I'm having fun playing around with different things. And I enjoy making stuff not necessarily related to 3d.
Please check it out! And share with your friends. Follow the shop on twitter to get updates on new items and stuff I am working on: @Zebranaut

Its been quite awhile since I've updated my blog. I've been really bad about working on my personal projects these past couple of months and, therefore, I haven't had much to update. I have just been super focused at work. And its really hard to come home and get motivated to work on other things. But, I've decided to get my personal projects back on track! I'm back to animating my little dialogue scene, "License to Kill". I reworked the beginning a little and I'm liking it a lot better. I also have my boyfriend helping me out by modeling my ninja character. I hope to be done with my other animation by the time he has that done so I can play around with the rig. I've been wanting to animate a ninja for so long! I think it would be so much fun!
Hope to share some stuff soon!

Sideshow from SVAD Animation on Vimeo.
I was able to work on a collaborative short film my senior year of college. It took a bit of time, but they finally have everything rendered and view-able online! Great job everybody!
Here's the synopsis from the vimeo page:
"Benson is the top act in Latigo’s much-lauded carnival--terrifying, thrilling and positively alive! A hardened monster, Benson has been scaring children into ill-humors longer than any show in town. But behind the razor-sharp teeth and manacled claws is the shadow of somebody entirely different. Somebody perhaps even Benson himself was unaware of until the day a most unexpected friend fluttered through his window. Now it’s up to Benson to change his tune or stay with what he does best, the Sideshow."

I love watching this kind of thing. Especially if it's related to a show I like. And I love Game of Thrones! Its cool how they mixed movements of a bat and eagle to get the look and feel of the dragon's movement. Check it out!

Here is a great read for people who don't know much about the animation process and like to know a bit more. Also some nice things to think about for those who work in CG, especially if you do freelance and have to work with clients who don't know what the animation process involves. Check it out and give it a read:

Right now my boyfriend and I playing through "Rayman: Origins" and it is easily becoming my favorite game. Its 2D gaming fun. Wonderfully animated and very colorful. And super fun to play. The next instalment is on its way with "Rayman: Legends". I'm already excited to play that one as well.
Here's a glimpse at how they make the game. Super cool! I would love to be able to work on a game like this!

These guys have some really great advice on self marketing. I really need to be better about the stuff they are talking about - always doing projects and staying active in the community, even when you aren't looking for a job at the time.
Definitely watch this. And check out some of their other videos as well.

Here are some of my favorite sketches from July! Follow me on twitter to get to see each of the daily sketches: @LydiaHall. These are just a few of the ones I really liked.
The one above is probably my favorite of the month. I was having fun drawing this griffin.

June was a good drawing month. Many favorites. I could've added more than these, but I decided not to. :) Enjoy!
Went with a bird theme one week. Really like how the toucan came out.
I was excited for Monsters University, so I drew Mike and Sulley. Loved the movie, by the way. If you haven't seen it, GO RIGHT NOW! lol
