"Bioshock: Infinite" Credits

"Bioshock: Infinite" released on Tuesday and its been getting great reviews all around! This makes title #2 for me! Yay! I was listen under "Additional Animation" because I was actually a contracter. And only there for a few months towards the end of the project. It was great working with the people at Irrational Games. Some super talented artist. :) All the hard work has paid off!

Here's the full credits if you are interested:

Be warned - there may be SPOILERS in that vid! Lol. Its a playthrough of the end of the game. I started the video at the beginning of the credits though.

Delving into the Sim Abyss

Its happened. I've finally come face to face with simulations in Maya. I can't really say why or what I'm working on, but I wanted to share. So far, I found it a bit challenging at first. The first couple hours felt like this:

But, eventually, I got something working. Felt pretty good. Though, I haven't delved too deep with all the settings and what-not. But I have faith I can do it! lol

So I was all over the web tryin to find tips and tutorials. Here's a couple useful ones I found:

http://www.youtube.com/user/TheCGBro <- these guys have some good tutorials, on more than just simming.

http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=99394 <- this is a good thread talking about getting a simulation working in a game

Those are just two of the things I found today. Feel free to comment with other links to other great tutorials!

Thankful for My Opportunities

So yesterday a bunch of friends got laid off from Timegate. Getting laid off is kinda scary. I wasn't sure where I would go next when I was laid off. Lay offs are a common part of being in the gaming and film industry, but its still a terrible feeling when it happens to you. I especially felt bad for those who had families to support. For me, its easy to travel to another state if I find a new job, but I can't imagine what transplating my whole family would be like.

In light of the events yesterday, I thought about how lucky I've been. Though I haven't been working in the same studio for more than a year, I also haven't been without a job for more than 3 months. There are others who have gone almost a year without finding work. Timegate actually gave me a great start and gave me some great opportunites. And I've been able to meet and work with some awesome people. I look forward to what life has to offer. :)

Just wanted to share some thoughts.
